What a bummer. I tried to apply to run the marathon for charity and was turned down by the American Cancer Society. So then I tried to look for another charity, and found Team in Training, but I will have to commit to raising $7500 in order to run. How am I supposed to do that?? And if I don't raise that amount I'm obligated to contribute that much out of my own pocket!...

This is the point I kick myself in the rear for not finishing that ONE RACE I had left last year to guarantee myself an entry!

I guess I won't be running in the marathon this year. :(((

WOW. That ia a LOT of money. Look to Maddy. She did it! http://thirteen-point-one.blogspot.com/

I say just find another marathon. Change of scenery! Make a little trip of it!

I am not a salesperson. I am not happy when someone seeks me out to contribute (I usually do, though). I do understand the why and how, but I won't do it...

Run something fun to remain focused in the meantime.

You'll get there yet!

Half marathons are great races. Plenty of those around. There's even one on Staten Island (where I grew up).
