One word for the Mini 10K today: brutal.

It's always the humidity that gets to me. Not the distance. Not the hills. Not the temperature. Today was a nice 73 degrees when we ran, but the humidity was up at 79%. Pretty hard to breathe with the air so dense. As much as I tried to push my way through, it just didn't happen in a lot of places and ended up walking more than I intended.

Funny thing was between miles 5 and 6 I started lagging a bit, and this one girl turned to me and says, "Almost there." And magically, as if it was the most natural thing, we both fell into pace with each other, encouraging each other to the finish. I think she runs a bit slower than me, but I just kept pushing her to run those last couple of hills, and she followed suit. Then with about 400m to go, she just said go ahead and I sprinted the rest of the way because we were so near the finish line. No matter though, since I basically posted my worse 10K ever. Ah well. There's always next time.

At least I had a strong finish! I think I can muster up the last ounce of strength to get to full speed crossing the finish line with every race.

And my knees didn't bother me one bit!! Woo hoo!!
