Training Day #14

79 Days until the Marathon
Today's weather: 86º
Today's humidity: 69%

Empowered. I felt empowered by my run today.

I did a 4.75 mile tempo run and it felt GRREAT! No, seriously. I felt freakin fantastic! Warmed up for 1.5 at my normal 12:00 m/m pace, then cranked it up to 10:54 m/m for 2, and then cooled down at 12:45 m/m for the rest.

I could've pushed it more. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I was telling myself to go faster, but being that I forgot to bring lunch (and common sense would have me eating a little something before heading to the gym), I decided not to overdo it. And I didn't want to be out of the office for too long. (Thank goodness for understanding bosses and flexible work schedules. )

I couldn't believe it though. It was challenging but it was a lot easier than I anticipated! I choose a treadmill that faced a gigantic photo of a shaded running path and just focused. Pushed past the people gabbing in front of me. Ran away from the others walking around. I realized looked at the numbers on the treadmill too much, so I threw a towel over it. Pushed. Pushed! I sweated freight trains but I felt soooo good!

Afterwards I took a few minutes to stretch out so I wouldn't feel too tight later on. If there's one hard lesson I've learned was to take stretching seriously!

I'm telling you. This runner's high is amazing!

"Sweated freight trains!" Awesome. Nice job working through the challenging part and then finding that level of thrilling, pounding satisfaction.

I was on the treadmill this morning. Took me forever to commit. Then as I started to run, it clicked! I know how you feel!

What fun. Thanks for sharing!
