To me, the hardest thing about running is actually getting dressed and heading out the door. Sad, isn't it? After that, the hardest thing is the first two miles. I'm not sure what it is, but after the first couple I'm fine. It's just getting myself adjusted to the pace, I suppose.

Today I took it easy and did about 5 miles today. Figured since I lazed my way out the past couple weeks, I need to ease back into it. Haha, 'recovery.' I like that. But I was happy to have done it, and not taken the extra day off. Mentally my mind started to get restless and I'm glad to have just done it and get it over with. I'm at a 5 mile deficit for the week, but I forced myself to sign up for three longer races over the next few weeks, 2 10Ks and a 10 miler. Entered the lottery for the Nike half-marathon in August as well. I don't know where you guys run, but summers in NYC are brutal. It's not so much the heat, but the humidity that makes it worse.

I wonder if it helps to vary the distances throughout or if it's better to keep going up in small increments. Gonna try to build up the distance and make myself comfortable with staying out longer. I feel I can experiment a bit until July when I commit myself to following that marathon training schedule. It's funny that once I got that first half under my belt, 15 miles doesn't sound too bad. Crazy! And to think I couldn't run up a flight of stairs without huffing and puffing a few years back.

I think reading about other people's training and their highs and lows on running, really helps to motivate me. The other day I read about this one woman who was about 300 lbs., slowly work her way up to walking 1 mile, and kept at it until 4 years later, she did her first triathlon. Triathlon! You gotta love the success stories.

Sorry about that... Where is my spell chaecker when I need it (or am I just too lazy to use it?)

Thank you for your kind words on my running blog. I appreciate it.

I am just leaving my treadmill (adored again for now) to run outside.

I have forgotten how much different it is to run outside. When (if) I get up, I'll try to assess it with my musculature... Wait, no... Not yet!

Fun blog! Thanks for sharing!

Very nice blog! Than for the comment, also.

I agree - I LOVE reading about other people's training, struggles, successes, etc. And their stories! I posted my story in late December of early January - from obese to rookie marathoner!!!
