Hello Stranger

It's been such a long time since I even logged into this site. A shame, really, since I don't really have much to report in terms of running. I flat out stopped running for a while as things my life got a bit of an upheaval.

Got laid off in December, and am now doing my stationery designing full time. It's been rather tough trying not to stress out over income, especially now that I have little savings and a big mortgage. But things have been going better than I expected. At least in terms of getting business. (Did I ever tell you that wedding-related services are somewhat recession proof? Thank goodness for that!) I've been trying to organize my life, and have been blind trashing things in boxes that I don't ever open. It's cathartic. Too many things weighing down my mind and physical space. Right now my business takes precedence over everything else, and I'm purging old items to make room for my inventory. I feel so much better mentally when I see a clean work space.

Back to running. I've been doing races. Short 4 milers, just enough to hold onto the feeling of achievement I used to get from doing it. But I know soon I will have to do more. I feel the need to do more. Not to mention I signed up for Marine Corps last year and bailed. This time I booked a hotel in Crystal City, as well as an extra day since I plan to drag that husband of mine with me.

Oh yea, since last post, I got married, too! We did the City Hall thing. Took pictures, and walked across the Brooklyn Bridge after. It was a quintessential New York style, low-key ceremony. Hopefully, next year we will have enough funds to do a reception.

Anyway, that's really about it. Next race is on Sunday, another 4 miler. Slow and steady to get my qualifications in for NYC 2011. That's a big one my friends and I are planning to run together in.
