I went to the More Marathon + Half Marathon Expo today to pick up my stuff, and I was so honored to meet Kathrine Switzer, the first woman to ever run the Boston Marathon. I think many women who run owe her a big 'thank you' for being such a pioneer for women's distance running. I talked to her for a good 5 minutes and she was such a nice and warm person. I almost cried when I got to hug her! She is such an icon! I mean, who can forget the images of her being violently assaulted for trying to run? Dedicating Sunday's race to her!
