Run/Walk it

After much fretting on being under-trained for Sunday, I started looking into run/walk methods and tested out the possibility. Turns out it's not that bad, only it might be a bit weird for me to start off like that. But if it means feeling weird will get me to the finish line, then that's what I'm going to do. (I did 5 miles at 2:1 and I don't feel sore at all like I normally do at this distance.)

Now you're talking! That seems like an even better way to navigate through Disney.

Jeff Galloway ran/walked last year's Disney marathon - running 1 min and walking 1 minute. He was targeting a 4:45 finish and ended up finishing in 5:09. Not to shabby!!!

It feels odd in the beginning because you feel so good - you are going to want to run the first mile or two - but RESIST! Move to the side, let everyone run by. You will see them later :-)

Keep telling yourself that if you are still feeling really good by the time you get to Hollywood studios (around mile 21) then you can run all you want!!! :-)

You may want to run down Main Street USA in the Magic Kingdom....and through Cinderella's castle as well... (between mile 10 and 11) so cheating on your walking breaks then is allowed! Watch for all the camera men right after you run through the castle - they get some good shots with the castle behind you. Smile big!
