I feel like I should close this blog. I haven't been running. So I shouldn't have a running journal. Maybe it's the cold. Or maybe I'm just so damn lazy that I can't seem to get out of the house. I don't think it helps now that I'll be working from home most days. Man, I need some serious motivation.

No no no! You had a nice run just about a week ago! No quitting, young lady. You are a MARATHONER. Marathoners don't quit. No way.

I am envious of you working from home. I am trying to arrange the same for myself. And I think it will HELP my running (when I can run again).

If you are just going to be sitting around, why don't you go to the Runner's Lounge post on motivation. It has links to several people who wrote about what motivates them. Maybe that would help? It's at their blog on one of their Take It And Run Thursdays.

I like what Susan said. Don't forget you are a marathoner. A little rest is good, but hope you hit the pavement soon. :D

Interested in doing 9 over the weekend? You could 4.5 each day if 9 is too much. Then you could enter 9 on the 9th.

Runners need time off. I took two months off after the 2006 NYCM, following 10 months of hard training. I needed it. So do you.

Start small. Run two miles early in the morning 3X a week. Then up it to 2.5 miles 3X a week, then 2 miles 4X a week, then 2.5 miles 4X a week, 3 miles 4X a week, then make one of those a long Saturday run starting at 4 miles and increasing a mile a week and before a month is out you're back! Call your friend that ran to Coney Island with you and run with her on Saturdays, having to meet a friend at 8 am to run is a true motivator. Good luck!

Hey congrats on NYC! That was great for your first full mary, and yes, it's a big accomplishment.

Thanks for visiting my blog and look forward to getting your pic!

Hope the running is picking up. It never really ends, you know ... :-)

I am so jealous of you and your proven ability.

I was down in the dumps and hurtin' a while back. I think it happens to everyone at some time or another.

Then people started to motivate me. A comment here or there. A stray comment on how this works for them. Someone saying to go back to my oatmeal before a run. My friends and fellow bloggers (wait - am I still blogging? I'll have to write another one soooooooooon) telling me to get the lead out and run.

Then after reeling under the pressure, I started to think about how much fun it can be to start at point A and run. Sometimes to point B... Sometimes to just explore... Sometimes to find that feeling of feeling the ground pass under my feet as I go mile after mile!

All of a sudden, I'm enjoying it again!

Go with the force, Luke! Or ahem... You'll know when it is time and you'll get going again!

Hmm, I thought I had left a comment here but don't see it. Perhaps the Blogger ate it ...

Anyways, I was going to suggest perhaps getting a treadmill. I work from home too and find that often it's convenience is how I manage to get some runs in, particularly short ones or when the weather is yucky outside. OTOH, perhaps you just need to sign up for another big race? I know some blogger folks are doing Chicago this year.

Lisa! Lisa?

Do you have a Nike+ iPod system? Get involved in a challenge! It doesn't matter what challenge. It doesn't matter what kind of challenge!

It helps me to see that other people are out there and running! See what time and distance they are doing and challenge yourself through that medium!

Maybe, it could just be a group of your blogging friends in a challenge! I'll volunteer!

Let's go!

Wanna?

Charlie

See? See what you drove me to? I have dedicated all comments to the latest (ahem...) edition of my blog to sending you uplifting, positive, motivating comments to you rather than leave anything on my blog.

Phew! You're worth it, though!

Never mind that people have stopped reading my blog due to the fact that I never seem to post anymore.

Hey Charlie, I still read your blog. :-) And I'm here to give a shout out to Lisa!

I agree with others, a nice break now and again is totally needed to keep you interest in running alive. I think the Nike+ challenges are quite motivating, or after a break try running somewhere new, or your old stomping grounds at a different time of the day. A little new perspective will help put that spring back in your step.

Good Luck!!!!

Hi Lisa.. Charlie says to get out there and run!

Working from home is actually great for running - you can fit a run in anytime you feel like. Doesn't have to mean waking up early!

Hope the cold gets better and strap on those running shoes.

In reference to Akshaye's comment, I would say that often working from home means work never stops and it's harder to make time to do things like run, eat, sleep. But somehow you've got to find balance in your life and make time for yourself. Set a goal, come up with a plan and stick with it. You ran a marathon, you can do this!!

Come on, Lisa -- let's run!
