The Expo

Wow! The expo was pretty cool! Lots of fun stuff and plenty of coupons for savings off of my next pair of sneakers. As soon as Chris and I got in helpful volunteers ushered us through everything.

The entrance to the expo.

I got my bib number!

The official bag. We have to put everything into it on race day.

The giddiness got to me.

By the end of the visit I was feeling really happy!

There was a free Coors Lite station and Chris was happy to get a freebie for tagging along. (I got the free Gatorade, of course!)

And look at all these goodies! Let's see... Zicam, breath mints, official tee shirt, Sponge Bob cap, Gatorade mix, a NYC music CD mix and plenty of coupons for running gear. Even a post-race dance party!

And the best part of the night: I found out that I'll be on the top level of the Verrazano Bridge! I wasn't going to bring my camera, but this is once in a lifetime. I figure if I never do this again I'll at least have pictures to prove it. And if I DO run this again, I'll be all business next time out!

After the expo, Chris was nice enough to accompany me to do some more carbo loading. He was delighted that there was a free bus that shuttled us from the expo to downtown. We went to Patsy's Pizza and had some delicious Penne alla Vodka and some awesome brick oven pizza with proscuitto on top.

I'm trying not to get overwhelmed but it's kind of hard not to. As much as I try to focus on race day I keep thinking of how far I've come, and I get teary eyed just thinking about this. It was really nice with all the well wishes at work, and just everyone that's been so helpful.

And YOU guys! I'm so thankful to be able to share all of this with people who get it. Thank you so much for all your tips, advice and general words of support! The next time I blog I will tell you about my 6 hour journey through the five boroughs of New York! See you at the finish line!

Oh Lisa - I am soooooo excited for you! I love the write-up. I felt the exact same way about my first expo 8 months ago -- it is overwhelming. I keot thinking "I can't believe I am here -- wow I have come far!"

Go girl go. I have just about decided to put off my longrun until tomorrow so I can run with you in spirit!

Good luck, Lisa. I loved the expo last year (and the M. the next day too). You'll do great and be a marathoner!
