110 Days until the Marathon
Today's weather: 84ºToday's humidity: 68%
My brother called me up this morning and asked if I would be able to have brunch with my folks since they were both off today. My opportunist side took over and I agreed, and left for Chinatown after packing a change of running clothes. The thought of running the Brooklyn Bridge again made me happy. Of course, once I got there, I realized exactly how long it's been that I've actually practiced on those century-old inclines. Let's put it this way: I'm 20lbs heavier and 2 years older, and boy did I feel it.
Tack on the humidity, this run was a struggle even at almost 2.5 miles. Sad I know. I'm telling you, I'd be really bummed if the marathon is like this. People say you have to acclimated but even after a few decades here, it's still a challenge.
My brother the disabled veteran who've had knee surgery (on both knees, no less), was still able to finish before me. I felt overheated again and nauseous so I shuffled/walk in a couple stretches. I'm sure more than one person wondered why the hell I'd run in such weather. After the first incline I started wondering that myself. But alas, it was a rather short distance so the suffering was limited. And I'm happy I toughed it out.
Tomorrow is a cross training day and I intend to tackle the hills of Prospect Park on my brand new bike! Just hope the humidity isn't going to be high.

So jealous that it is warm where you are running- it is damn cold and raining here. Hope you don't have to battle the humidity when you do your marathon.
Excellent work! You stuck it out through the humidity. Go girl!
